Jaipur weekend!

As promised the Jaipur weekend.....

We took a taxi to Jaipur which usually takes 3 hours to get there. Our driver was really cautious which was good, but it took a long time to get there (4 hours).

Once we arrived, we went to the Amber Fort. We hiked to the top and all the street hawkers descended upon us! It was so annoying, even though you say no they keep on lowering their prices and they follow you up! Then they try to make you feel bad by saying that they are students and they need the money. I understand that is how they make a living, but at some point they have to know when to quit! Up at the fort, we found out the the elephant rides were over for the afternoon so we heading back down, running into the same boys. We then headed to our hotel, which also took forever since the driver didn't know where anything was. So eventually we got there, and we got to pick our room. We picked this awesome room called the treetop room. It had a 180 degree view of the road and it was kind of like a tree fort. It was pretty sweet except for the mosquitos! After lunch, we heading to the City Palace to take a tour of the property. They have textiles and weapons from centuries ago. The past marajah was 7 feet tall, so it was pretty cool to see some of his clothes. The weapons they used were pretty awesome. Daggers with crystal hilts. 4 barrel guns, and stuff like that. The royal family still lives there too! For dinner, we went to the Rambagh Palace. It was a palace converted into a 5 star hotel. Everyone there knew that we didn't belong, but we got to splerge on a nice meal and even danced with the dancers in the courtyard!

The next day, we went to the market and we got some anklets and bangles! We were supposed to be heading towards the Palace of Winds but we got side tracked.... ;) Afterwards we headed to the Amber Fort again. As we were going in a monkey jumped over my head and was just inches from it. I screamed and everyone looked :( It was funny though! The fort was really cool. We got to go almost everywhere and it was like a maze! We got lost and had to ask the security guard how to get out. He chuckled, because I think that many people get lost. After we were done exploring we heading down the hill for the elephant ride. As we got on I instantly decided that it was probably not a very good idea. Poor elephants :( The ride up was bumpy and I was very scared. There were men taunting the elephant and since they are animals, I did not know how the elephant was going to react. Eventually we made it back to the fort and got our pictures taken. Poor Jumbah had a cataract in his left eye. I don't think that Venu works on elephants :(

After the great adventure at the fort we heading for home. It only took us 5 hours this time.... Ugh! There was an accident on the road so that is why it added more time to our trip.

Overall, it was a really fantastic trip!

Times up, more later!

Loves!

  2. Elephants, monkeys and treetops, what more can you ask for? How fabulous! It's like you are in a movie...staying at the tree top room, riding an elephant and going to dinner in a palace.
